At Laser Spine Institute minimally invasive spine surgery is a procedure used to treat symptoms of a variety of spinal conditions, including bulging disc, herniated disc, facet disease, arthritis of the spine, spinal stenosis, and more. This technique requires only a small incision, unlike traditional open neck and back surgery. Once the incision has been made, surgeons insert a small tube, slipping larger ones over top to slowly increase the available space while gently nudging muscle aside. When the last tube has been inserted, the interior ones are removed and the tiny instruments can be fed through to reach the surgery site. Then, the surgeon uses a video camera to view the site and small tools to remove the tissue causing pain.
